Christmas Lights

No matter how well you wrap, roll, bundle, tie, or just dump them into a bag, they come out a tangled mess.  Not sure why.  And yes: I’m calling them Christmas lights and not Holiday lights.  Sue me.

Spongy, Yellow, Delicious Bastards

Spongy, Yellow, Delicious BastardToday the Hostess corporation announced it would be shutting its doors and selling off its assets after 82 years in business.  Twinkies have been around since the beginning in 1930, have been used in a murder defense in 1979, and been mentioned in movies, sometimes quite prominently. Contrary to popular belief, they don’t have an infinite shelf life.  But I’m gonna keep the one pictured above around for awhile to watch.

They come in all flavors, and they’re all nasty.  Perhaps my favorite comment was from a friend one time when I asked him, “What flavor did you get?” He chewed, considered it, then said, “Georgia clay, I think.”

Hanging Around

Hanging Around“You said to get something to hang the prisoner with.”
Hanging has been around as a method of execution for a long time; the term “hanging” has been used for at least 700 years.  There’s the Suspension Method, the Short Drop, the Standard Drop, and the Long Drop.  The first two methods result in the person dying by strangulation — the last of these has one very unfortunate side effect.  In Singapore the Long Drop method is the mandatory punishment for drug trafficking, murder, kidnapping, and unauthorized possession of firearms.  Watch your step in Singapore.
